Brian Corkum had the pleasure of spending part of his 2018 summer in Lexington, Kentucky, performing in the ensemble of The Music Man. The Music Man, performed at the Lexington Opera House, was directed by Mark Madama (University of Michigan, Music Theatre Wichita) and choreographed by Mara Newbery Greer (Paper Mill Playhouse, Pittsburgh CLO, Music Theatre Wichita). The production was led by seasoned professionals like Mara Davi (Dames at Sea, A Chorus Line) as Marian Paroo, Edward Watts (Finian's Rainbow, Scandalous) as Harold Hill, Aaron Gaines (Irish Repertory Theatre, Shakespeare Theatre DC) as Charlie Cowell, and Justin Robertson aka "Squigs" as Marcellus Washburn.
Lyndy Franklin Smith, artistic director of The Lexington Theatre Company, made sure Meredith Willson's beautiful score of The Music Man was highlighted with a 27 piece orchestra. The cast consisted of Broadway veterans, young professionals from around the country, local professionals, and local pre-professional students. The cast worked tirelessly for two weeks to create a production that the audiences of Lexington would never forget.
